Do NOT Teach English Abroad For Too Long If You Don’t Want This To Happen

Wondering if teaching English abroad will help or ruin your career? I mean what happens after you teach abroad? Will employers back home want to hire you? Will it be easier to find a job in your home country?

Let’s take for example this UNEMPLOYED weirdo.

Looks like teaching English abroad ruined his.

Look at this clown. Look how he is making his money. He might as well be a beggar, right? I watched a video where he said that he taught in China, Korea and Taiwan for over 6 years. Is that going to be my destiny if I follow his path?

Will teaching in Asia only lead to unemployment back home?

Well, honestly I think it depends on you and how you look at it. Some people think teaching abroad 1 or 2 years won’t hurt your resume. Others think that any unrelated experience to what you actually want to do won’t help your resume.

So is teaching abroad related in any way to what you want to do?

If it’s not then you might want to reconsider if you are a type “A” kind of person. Do you have your 5 or 10 year plan laid out? Is teaching abroad going to help you achieve your long term goals?

Or…

Like mentioned do it no more than one or two years.

So what if you end up doing it more than 2 years?

Well, then you may need to find a way to make that experience relate to what you want to do. You can highlight in your resume some of these characteristics that you may have from teaching abroad:

  • Communication
  • Leadership
  • Public speaking
  • Imagination
  • Organization
  • Compassion
  • Open-mindedness
  • Adventurous spirit
  • Patience
  • Creativity
  • Adaptability

A lot of it is just how you market yourself. I personally wouldn’t worry about this now if you haven’t even started.

Oh yeah…

That freak above is me. I generally don’t follow 5 or 10 year plans either because I am just not like that.

And while street performing may not be a high status job it’s got some benefits like creativity, independence and freedom. That’s what I like about it. Those are things that I value. I was an artist before I started teaching abroad and I will be until I die.

If you’re interested in teaching abroad then I would start this free course and here’s why…

  • You’ll get insider’s advice from teachers in China, Korea, Taiwan and Japan on video
  • How to choose your best location (city & country) for teaching abroad
  • Get full details on the salaries teachers make in Asia
  • Fun quizzes to see if your “Engrish” is good enough;)
  • You can start learning about everything from public speaking and lesson planning to teaching reading and classroom management

You have nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain by starting now. In fact you won’t find a “free” course like this anywhere, but it does have limits and that limit is time.

Start it now.
